Maitrimony ("we", "us", "our") is a premium matrimony platform operated from India. Our registered contact email is hello@maitrimony.com. We are the data fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide our verification-first matrimony service:

• ◆ Identity data — full name, date of birth, gender
• ◆ Contact data — email address, phone number, postal address
• ◆ Government identity documents — Aadhaar number (tokenised via DigiLocker), passport (for NRI members)
• ◆ Profile data — photographs, education, profession, family background, preferences
• ◆ Verification data — background check results (held securely, not displayed to other users)
• ◆ Technical data — IP address, device type, browser, usage logs
• ◆ Payment data — transaction references only (no card details stored on our servers)

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data solely for: (a) verifying your identity and conducting background checks; (b) creating and displaying your profile to other verified members; (c) facilitating introductions and communication between members; (d) providing customer support; (e) processing membership payments; (f) sending service-related communications. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third-party benefit, or any purpose beyond providing the Maitrimony service.

4. Third Parties We Share Data With

We share your data only with:

• ◆ DigiLocker / UIDAI — for Aadhaar-based KYC (governed by their own terms)
• ◆ Empanelled background verification agencies — under strict data processing agreements
• ◆ Payment processors — for membership fee transactions only
• ◆ Cloud infrastructure providers — under data processing agreements

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. We never share your data with advertisers.

5. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you have the right to:

• ◆ Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
• ◆ Erase your personal data (subject to legal obligations)
• ◆ Withdraw consent at any time
• ◆ Nominate a person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your membership is active and for a period of 3 years thereafter for legal compliance purposes. Background check results are stored for 2 years. You may request deletion at any time; deletion requests are processed within 30 days subject to applicable legal requirements.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies required for the website to function and analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You may disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption at rest and in transit, access controls, regular security audits, and data minimisation practices. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Please notify us immediately at security@maitrimony.com if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

9. Children

Maitrimony is strictly for individuals aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has submitted personal data, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered members of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
